In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at some exciting new music that’s caught our ears this week!
Maya de Vitry, “Confidence of the Sun”
One of my Mt Rushmore of songwriting has a new album on the way! Maya de Vitry’s new album All My Faith arrives July 24. The first song is out today (5/1): “Confidence of the Sun.” Of the song, she says “Over the years, I have shed what feels like many skins. When I wrote the first lines of this song, ‘It took me a long time to recognize peace as a place I belong,’ it felt healing just to sing it and own that truth. It’s taken years for me to begin to rewire some painful patterns, some deep grooves of self-doubt and self-sabotage.”
Hiss Golden Messenger, “Shaky Eyes”
Out today (5/1), “I’m People” is the new album from M.C. Taylor, also known as Hiss Golden Messenger. The song “Shaky Eyes” serves as an ode to Taylor’s origins in California for the Durham-based musician.
Beth Orton, “Waiting”
The Ground Above, Beth Orton’s new album, will be out on June 26 and features the song “Waiting.” Orton says the song “is a celebration of moving out of the holding pattern fear keeps us in.”
Kacey Musgraves, “Middle of Nowhere”
Today (5/1)the new album Middle of Nowhere from Kacey Musgraves is out, marking a return to a more rootsy country sound. The album (and the title track) takes its name from a real, self-deprecating sign propped up in her tiny hometown of Golden, Texas.
