In the meantime, check out some of the best new music we’ve been listening to this week.

Willi Carlisle, “Beeswing”

Willi Carlisle’s new album Winged Victory (out 6/27) includes his cover of Richard Thompson’s “Beeswing.” Of the song, Carlisle offers: “I’ve heard a lot of marvelous covers of ‘Beeswing,’ but never one done on the concertina, as we did. I wanted the record to include a song about romantic love that had ideas about freedom and victory.”

Taj Mahal + Keb’ Mo, “My Darling My Dear”

Out today, Room on the Porch is the second collaboration between Taj Mahal + Keb’ Mo. Including the song “My Darling My Dear,” the recording sessions were “like a party every day,” says Keb’ Mo’ of the familial environment in the studio. “We had our sons in there playing with us and all the other musicians and writers were hanging the whole time, so it was a really fun place to be.”

Cat Terrones, “City Where She Sleeps”

Cat Terrones’ new album Shelter In Our Beauty (out 6/6) includes the song “City Where She Sleeps.” Based in Los Angeles, CA, her music aligns well with the Laurel Canyon vibes from the 60’s & 70’s.

Paul Thorn, “Life is Just a Vapor”

Paul Thorn’s new album, Life Is Just a Vapor, contains some beauties. “Life is a vapor, let’s live it while we can”; “tough times don’t last, but tough people do”; “any mountain up ahead is just a hill.” They’re words of advice, comfort, support, encouragement, often meant to uplift, especially in times of struggle.
