Why We Write with Kim Ruehl, Eps. 61: Danielle Howle
For the past three decades, Danielle Howle has released a steady stream of singer-songwriter albums packed with songs that run the gamut from country to gospel to folk to rock and back again. She has toured with the Avett Brothers, Indigo Girls, and numerous other acts, and has long been the Artist in Residence at the Awendaw Green outside Charleston, South Carolina.
Howle also teaches songwriting to all ages. Her latest album, Current, is out now on Kill Rock Stars. In this final episode of the Why We Write podcast, Danielle talked about what she’s learned about songwriting along the way. Particularly, the intersection of humor, spirituality, and music—a favorite topic across the many episodes of this podcast.
Though this is the final installment, all 61 episodes will remain available for streaming here on Folk Alley and wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening.
