Why We Write with Kim Ruehl, Eps. 35: Glen Phillips

Glen Phillips is perhaps best known as being the frontman and singer-songwriter for Toad the Wet Sprocket, but he’s also an accomplished solo artist, collaborator with Sean and Sara Watkins in Works Progress Administration, and various other avenues.

His latest album, There Is So Much Here, is an emotionally stirring, multi-genre exploration of love and loss and healing and purpose. So, for the latest episode of the Why We Write podcast, I was excited to get to talk to him about his ability to write in so many styles. How has his success via radio hits with Toad the Wet Sprocket impacted his relationship with songwriting? And how has music been a healing avenue for him, through fame and various personal developments?

We got into all of it on the latest episode of the Why We Write podcast.
