Why We Write with Kim Ruehl, Eps. 26: Steve Forbert

Steve Forbert has been writing great songs for decades and has a track record of great songs – the kind of great songs any musician would be proud to call their own.

His latest album, Moving Through America, is no exception—it sees the songwriter capturing the myriad stories that make up American life. Whether singing about lost love or desire or fried clams, Forbert has a way of writing that pulls you in from the beginning of the song.

So of course I was curious how he does that, what he’s learned along the way, and what he’s learned from listening to other people’s songwriting, too. We got into all of that and more in the latest episode of the Why We Write podcast. So turn it on and turn it up, sit back, and wander through America with Steve Forbert.
