Wellstone World Music Day Observed

The life of the late Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone was celebrated with concerts, speeches, and other events on Oct. 25, the one-year anniversary of Wellstone’s death in a plane crash. The liberal senator, who was locked in a bitter reelection campaign at the time of his death, was a champion of many civil rights causes. Wellstone World Music Day was inspired by Daniel Pearl Music Day, a musical memorial honoring the late Wall Street Journal reporter. Events were held in Minneapolis, Austin, Berkeley, Bismarck, Cedar Rapids, and Woodstock.
