Video Premiere: Twisted Pine, “Goosebump Feeling”

Twisted Pine releases its third album, Love Your Mind, on October 18 on Signature Sounds. With the band’s first official single, “Goosebump Feeling,” they deliver an intricately crafted gem, brimming with good vibes, that leads listeners to dance along to the song. Truly, fiddler Kathleen Parks, mandolinist Dan Bui, bassist Chris Sartori, and flautist Anh Phung send shivers of delight up and down our spine with their catchy pop hooks.

The song opens in spare fashion as Bui’s mesmerizing mandolin strums lay down a jaunty rhythmic foundation for Parks’ breathy vocals. Phung’s ethereal flute plays call and response with Bui’s mandolin riffs and join the group’s harmony vocals spiraling in concentric circles to evoke the eternal return of joy and pleasure in various of life’s moments: “I get that goosebump feeling all over again.”

Writing about the song, the band reflects: “Sometimes life surprises you, and catches you off guard. ‘Goosebump Feeling’ is an upbeat, insistent, and hooky pop song about feeling yourself changing in ways you didn’t expect, of letting go of what you thought you were, and giving into the thrill and exhilaration of what you can be. Tom Petty’s hook-heavy songwriting and vocal delivery was a key influence.”

Twisted Pine enlisted their friend Blake Hannahson to direct a video of the song: “We wanted to showcase everyone’s freedom through movement; during our shoot we made some new friends at a dance battle in downtown Toronto. We hope you feel the playful, indie energy we all aimed for in this track and that the rhythm will take over, encouraging our fans and friends to want to dance too!”
