Video Premiere: Darrell Scott, “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive”

No matter who you are, the simple things in life are pretty much the same — a beautiful day, a natural setting, a fun activity, some good company, and a great song. (Some of us would argue that a dog is also an absolute requirement, if you’re aiming for perfection, at least.) The rest holds true, though, even for an iconic songwriter like Darrell Scott.

A few months back, Scott recorded a bluegrass version of his song “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” at the eTown Studios out in Boulder, Colorado. Then, he got word that Honeysuckle Hill Farm in Springfield, Tennessee, wanted to partner with him for their annual Country Music Corn Maze and a lightbulb went off.

“Honeysuckle Hill Farm wanted to put my image and song, ‘It’s a Great Day to Be Alive’ into its corn maze design this fall,” Scott explains, adding, “and since I had never made a video for the song and the song’s message is as needed as ever, we decided to make a video with great help from family and friends. I love the result. share the love.”

Peep the results in the video or, if you’re in Tennessee, head out to Honeysuckle Hill between now and November 2 to wander through Darrell Scott’s face of corn.
