Song Premiere: Twisted Pine, “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'”

Today, one of our favorite Boston-based, progressive string-bands, Twisted Pine releases the first single, “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'” from their forthcoming “covers EP,” Dreams (out June 8th on Signature Sounds).

Last summer, Folk Alley featured Twisted Pine: Rachel Sumner (guitar and vocals), Kathleen Parks (fiddle and vocals), Dan Bui (mandolin) and Chris Sartori (bass) for an NPR Music Heavy Rotation pick with “Hold On Me,” and grooved on their “upbeat, poppy vibe; energetic, driving rhythms; virtuosic solos” and “tight harmonies.”

Here, the acoustic quartet deftly reimagines the electro-pop sound of this Scissor Sisters song. Rachel Sumner says, ”’I Don’t Feel Like Dancin” has this infectious, nostalgic disco beat with wry, witty lyrics that translates surprisingly well in our acoustic setting. When we play it, it’s a little less Bee Gees and a little more Dolly Parton, but you can still groove and move to it!”

Turn it up! And dance, even if you don’t feel like it.
