Rose Cousins

Singer/songwriter Rose Cousins comes all the way from Canada to chat with Matt Watroba… about being Canadian! The pair discuss her path from PEI potato farm to award-winning musician. Cousins, who is familiar with traveling through the U.S., has made a second home in Boston and wrote much of her latest album in a cabin north of New Hampshire.

Rose Cousins has a knack for stirring the heart. With a blend of her journey and thoughtful observation, her songs tell subtle stories open enough to belong to anyone. Her genuine writing and unaffected voice have earned her great respect and recognition locally and internationally. Highly sought after, Rose has lent her voice to recordings by such artists as: Joel Plaskett, Matt Mays, Jill Barber, In-Flight Safety, The Heavy Blinkers and Edie Carey. Rose often has audiences in tears one moment and belly laughs the next. With expressive arrangements, warm guitar and effortless vocals, one would hardly believe she’s on stage alone. Cousins recently took home 2012 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Singer of the Year..
