Bella White, “Nobody Dies Anymore”

Bella White’s upcoming EP Five for Silver (out August 16) contains covers by Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams & more. “Nobody Dies Anymore” is a Jeff Tweedy cover originally on his Tweedy album Sukierae from 2014.

Billy Strings, “Leadfoot”

Highway Prayers (out September 27) is Billy Strings’ latest. Produced by Strings and Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Mac Miller, Aimee Mann), the album includes 20 original songs. “Leadfoot” was written by Strings; the song features Strings on vocals, banjo, bass, steel guitar, EBow electric guitar and 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle along with Matt Chamberlain on drums.

Joy Clark, “Lesson”

Joy Clark’s upcoming album Tell it to the Wind (out October 4) features her first single “Lesson.” Clark says, “My grandmother is and was my root, and when she passed, I thought back on what she imparted to me in her 86 years of life. I honor her remarkable journey with a bluesy chant that highlights a life lived through loving strength and kindness. ‘Lesson’ isn’t just a reminder of rock music’s Black, queer and Southern roots, it’s also an unapologetic demand that we take our rightful place in the struggle for freedom.”
