In the meantime, check out some of the best new music we’ve been listening to this week.

Jenny Owen Youngs – “Avalanche”

OK big news: Jenny Owen Youngs is releasing her first full length record in ten years. I cannot wait to dig into this new music since #1 I love J.O.Y and #2 lots of life changes have gone down for our dear Jenny: divorce, falling in love again, relocating from Los Angeles to a small town in coastal Maine and remarrying. The leading song does not disappoint: “Avalanche” is the title track and the rest of the album will be out on September 22.

The Swell Season – “The Answer is Yes”

Um. My heart is exploding. The Swell Season (Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova) are ALSO back after ten years and their first new song together documents their ultra-tumultuous and romantic history. Marketa shares: “I wanted to write a beautiful duet for us to sing together each night. Something that felt right for the time and place; deeply personal and yet widely universal. Something that summarized our journey through the past 20 years, paying tribute to all that once was and celebrating all that now is.”

Cass McCombs & Mr. Greg – “Wave a Flag for Harvey Milk”

Wrapping up Pride Month with an awesome tribute to LGBT+ hero Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California. Cass McCombs joins San Francisco pre-school teacher Mr. Greg on their new kids’ album: Mr. Greg & Cass McCombs Sing and Play New Folk Songs for Children – out on August 18.

Margo Cilker – “Keep It On a Burner”

Sizzling song of the week goes to Margo Cilker, “Keep It On A Burner,” which see her searing lyrics alongside a sweet horn section. Look out for her upcoming album Valley of Heart’s Delight, out on September 15.
