In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at some exciting new music that’s caught our ears this week!
Bruce Springsteen, “Streets Of Minneapolis”
“I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free.” – Bruce Springsteen.
Katie Dahl, “A Song for Minnesota”
“I wrote a song in solidarity with the Minnesota protests. I’m originally from Minnesota and have been feeling all this stuff pretty deeply….The song has really struck a nerve on social media and has even been played through megaphones at vigils and rallies in Minneapolis” – Katie Dahl
Grace Givertz, “Pennies and Fishes”
Boston singer songwriter Grace Givertz will release her second album, Midnight Feature on March 13. Including the song “Pennies and Fishes,” a banjo and piano song about friend breakups.
Lonesome River Band, “Bernadette”
“Bernadette”’s doleful tale of a farmer abandoned by its fickle namesake has a surprising origin story, recounted by songwriter Bob Minner of Tim McGraw’s Dancehall Doctors band: “My wife Ginger and I write a lot of songs together,” he says, “and sometimes the ideas come from the strangest of places. ‘Bernadette’ came from when one of Ginger’s favorite authors, Shawn Inmon, was asking his fans to offer up unique women’s names to be used in his next novel. We were driving around and joking about names like Ethel, Maude, Carly, etc., and I just blurted out ‘How ‘bout Bernadette?’ And out of nowhere I sang that name and first line.”
