In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at some exciting new music that’s caught our ears this week!

Molly Tuttle, “That’s Gonna Leave A Mark”

Molly Tuttle’s upcoming album So Long Little Miss Sunshine (out 8/15) marks a sonic departure. This time around Tuttle is less bluegrass and more folk-pop than previous releases and it’s pretty exciting! She shares “I wrote ‘That’s Gonna Leave a Mark’ with my friend Kevin Griffin (Better Than Ezra). He has such a brilliant pop sensibility. We reworked it a little bit last year. It’s fun, sort of sassy, and that guitar part is one of my favorites that I play on the record.” Also: don’t sleep on this amazing claw hammer guitar playing!

Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts, “Talkin’ to the Trees”

Out today, Talkin’ to the Trees sees Neil Young recording with The Chrome Hearts—Spooner Oldham (Farfisa organ), Micah Nelson (guitar and vocal), Corey McCormick (bass and vocal), Anthony LoGerfo (drums)—Neil Young (guitar and vocal) takes a stand with his band to question where the world is right now. The many options about the future press hard, but Young faces them with openness and wonder. There is no turning back.

Nikki Lane, ‘Woodruff City Limit”

Nikki Lane’s latest is the haunting single “Woodruff City Limit,” which showcases a new ache in Lane’s voice that’s appeared in recent years. Produced by Butch Walker, the track is a reflective ballad rooted in Lane’s connection to her hometown of Woodruff, South Carolina.

The Mammals, “The Doldrums”

Hooray hooray! The Mammals have a DOUBLE album on the way! Touch Grass Vol. 1 & 2 (out 11/1) from the Hudson Valley band, led by Ruth Ungar and Mike Merenda, rages, reflects, and rejoices—equal parts protest and balm.
