###
Bruce Springsteen, “Faithless”
Get ready for a massive collection of previously unreleased Bruce Springsteen albums including Faithless — a long-lost film soundtrack to a movie that was never made. Faithless and six other albums will be released in full on Tracks II: The Lost Albums. A meditation on purpose, belief and acceptance — intended to accompany a film described as a “spiritual Western” — Springsteen recorded much of Faithless between the conclusion of the Devils & Dust tour in November 2005 and the release of We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions in April 2006.
Kacey Musgraves, “Lost Highway”
Kacey Musgraves has signed to Nashville-based Lost Highway Records. The 8x GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter is the first artist signed by the relaunched label – and she was the final artist signed to Lost Highway in 2011. In 2012, Lost Highway was absorbed by Mercury Nashville while she was working on her debut studio album, Same Trailer, Different Park. Musgraves marked this momentous new beginning by releasing her interpretation of the song for which the label is named – the Leon Payne-penned “Lost Highway,” which Hank Williams covered in 1949.
Recently Graham Sharp, founding member of Steep Canyon Rangers, released his second solo album, How Did We Do It. “This is a group of songs I’ve written over the last few years that loosely fell into the basket of love songs,” says Sharp. “All of these tunes are tied to specific moments and places; for me, it almost reads like a photo album through the past decade or so. Most of these tunes fit nicely onto the banjo, so the bluegrass setting seemed like the obvious choice. Living in Western NC, I’m lucky to have some of the finest bluegrass musicians anywhere as neighbors. This group had never played together as a band, so we had a lot of fun putting these little songs together.”
The Lonesome Ace Stringband, “Carpet Beetle”
A new fiddle tune from The Lonesome Ace Stringband is, according to the band, “Probably the weirdest tune to date, written by the musical partnership of Chris Coole and John Showman.” It is said of the tune that “The A part makes you feel icky, the B part makes you want to dance, and the C part makes you want to break things”. Far from being a pest, the tune is popular among children of all ages.
