Hurray for the Riff Raff, “Pyramid Scheme”
“Pyramid Scheme” is the latest single from Hurray for the Riff Raff. Lyrical nods to Billy the Kid, Calamity Jane, Darby Crash, and Frida Kahlo (in a black ski mask) are wrapped in melodies and arrangements that are equal parts scrappy and saccharine, backed by Phil Cook on organ, Yan Westerlund on drums, Hand Habits’ Meg Duffy on electric guitar, and The Past Is Still Alive producer Brad Cook on bass.
Jensen McRae, “Praying For Your Downfall”
I Don’t Know How But They Found Me!, Jensen McRae’s sophomore album is out on April 25, 2025. Featuring “Praying For Your Downfall” a masterclass in candor that blends snark and charm as McRae reflects on letting go of the impulse for revenge against someone who broke her heart. It’s not about wishing them well—it’s about no longer caring enough to wish them ill.
“Let Things Go” is a lovely new song from Caamp on their new seven song EP, Somewhere. The band began as a project between childhood friends Taylor Meier and Evan Westfall, who met at a summer camp while they were middle school students.
Olive Klug, “Taking Punches from the Breeze”
Lost Dog (out April 25, 2025) is the sophomore record from the Portland-born, Nashville-based singer/songwriter (they/them). Self-described as “someone who floats on the breeze, letting the wind take me wherever I’m meant to be,” Klug’s sophomore album Lost Dog finds them contemplating this propensity for adventure no matter which avenue of love and loss it leads down.
