Anna B Savage’s upcoming album You & i are Earth (out January 24), sees the Donegal County songwriter reflecting on ancestry, solitude, and companionship. Of the latest single, “Lighthouse,” Savage shares: “A gentle love song about how I presumed I would end up alone, but found someone who makes me feel held, safe and still a sort of (if you’ll forgive me) independent ship in the night. I tried to keep the production relatively simple like the song, as that’s how the emotion feels also. It’s just nice.”
Jerry Garcia & David Grisman, “The Sweet Sunny South”
Curated by Grisman, the new Jerry Garcia & David Grisman collection Bare Bones (The Duo Recordings) features the duo performing 51 tracks captured during their intimate sessions at Grisman’s home studio. It includes original, unembellished master recordings, alternate takes, and the first performances of classic tunes the duo recorded.
Julien Baker x TORRES, “Sugar in the Tank”
After their electrifying live debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this past Tuesday, Julien Baker and TORRES unveiled their new single, “Sugar in the Tank.” Brought together by their shared experiences of growing up queer in the South, these two iconic young songwriters—Julien Baker (of boygenius) and TORRES—join forces for a collaboration that reimagines country music with heartfelt authenticity. Blending their deep love for the genre with a joyful reclamation of its traditions and imagery, they craft a sound that feels as inclusive as it is true to their roots.
Sunny War, “Scornful Heart” (featuring Tré Burt)
Sunny War’s upcoming album Armageddon In A Summer Dress (out February 21) features Tré Burt on the new track “Scornful Heart.” War says “I met Tré sometime before COVID in Nashville during Americana Fest,” War told Brooklyn Vegan. “His set was before mine and we traded records. That was the beginning of a great friendship and we have now been working on songs together for a couple of years. We’re hoping to eventually put out an album under the name ‘Smooth Harrison’ (it’s like if George Harrison was funky). ‘Scornful Heart’ is the first song Tré and I finished together.”
